What to expect the first day home with your hedgehog...
If you've ever moved to a new school or started a new job, or started a new journey towards something very unfamiliar; do you remember the gittery almost sick to your stomach nerves that you may have felt that first day? Chances are that your hedgehog will have those same types of feelings on their first day home too. They just moved from their home where noises, smells, sounds, and humans are familiar and safe to them to a new home where EVERYTHING is new.
Leaving here for many hedgehogs is extremely stressful for them. This stress may cause them to "huff"at you or in their cage because they are scared and unfamiliar with their new home and new owneres. Stress may also cause slight loose or greenish stool, and they may not want to eat for the first day home.
If your hedgehog acts scared or upset it is not because they don't like you or hate you, it is simply because they are unfamiliar with their new home and owner. Check out recommended bonding tips here!
