A Bucket List Wish Fulfilled....

Before Christmas 2018, we were blessed to be able to fulfill an item on Anne's bucket list <3

These are videos of me hand feeding one of our hoglet's. Unfortunately, hedgehog mother's have a tendency to kill or abandon their young, sometimes for no reason at all. We had a litter of 5 hoglets born on October 20, 2014, and their mother (Bubblegum) killed one of her hoglet's and tried to kill the remaining 4. I rescued the other 4 from their mom and am attempting to keep them alive by bottle feeding them.  The survival rate for hoglets in the wild are only 50% when they are raised by their mother. For babies that are hand- fed, the survival rate drops to only 10%.

I got a rare opportunity to film our hedgehog, Lady, giving birth. By mounting my camera on a swiveling camera mount, I could film her without her knowing I was there. I am so glad I could capture it, and so happy I could share this unique experience. ***viewers beware, this is a live birth, and is graphic**.
